The Criminal Investigations Unit of the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office is responsible for the investigation, apprehension, and preparation for prosecution of criminal cases, and the recovery of stolen property.  Investigations is tasked with law enforcement functions of an investigative nature.  Investigators conduct investigations of Battery/Assault, Sex Crimes, Burglaries, Economic Crimes, Computer Crimes, Robberies, Auto Thefts, and Missing/Endangered Persons.  The Criminal Investigations Unit is responsible for the follow-up investigation of all criminal offenses reported to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office.  LCSO investigators receive specialized training and equipment designed to enhance the investigator's abilities to better serve the citizens of Lafayette County.  The investigators work closely with the Patrol Division and the State's Attorney Office to ensure a positive disposition on every case investigated.
