A message from your School Resource Officer,
It is hard to believe that another School year is coming to a close and we are starting to prepare for Graduation. I would like to thank the community for your continued support of making Lafayette Schools one of the safest in the State. We can do all we can at the Schools to make it safe, but when the community steps up and obeys all the rules that are in place, it makes my job so much more easier. I know I have heard a few negative comments about all the fencing that is taking place around campus from a few people in the community but, we can not please all the people all the time. You need to understand that all the fencing is being done to ensure that your child is safe while at school. I do remember when this fencing was not needed. I also remember when we did not need a Law Enforcement Officer on school campus. It is sad that the world we live in has come to this point but it has and we have to take measures to be prepared for the worst. These fences are not in place to cause a burden on parents who come to pick up their children, they are in place to make sure your child is at school and safe when you do come to pick them up. I have told some people that I would rather them be upset because of the fence than for me to come to their home and tell them something bad has happened to their child. I have heard that we live in Mayo not New York but that is what the Amish people thought in Lancaster, PA. The Lafayette Sheriffs Office, Lafayette Emergency Management and Lafayette School District has teamed up and we are going to do some mock scenarios at school this summer so we can all improve our response times and improve our skills in case we ever have an unthinkable situation occur at Lafayette Schools. I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful summer..
